Salimatou Diallo

Community Engagement Coordinator

Originally from Guinea and having moved to the United States in 2018, Salimatou's personal experience of navigating fragmented systems has shaped her professional mission: “turning isolated experiences into organized advocacy.”

She started her non-profit career in New York, working with organizations like the Puerto Rican Family Institute and Emma's Torch. Later, at the IRC Dallas, she developed and expanded people-centered programs aimed at empowering communities.

Salimatou holds a Bachelor in Business Administration and is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Nonprofit Leadership and Management at Arizona State University.

Salimatou maintains a deep commitment to systemic change in her local community. She served on the Frisco ISD District Advisory Council, actively participated as a room parent and PTA member, and is involved with the Refugee Storytellers Collective.

Her passion for equitable education and youth empowerment aligns perfectly with VMYDF's mission. Inspired by the opportunity to connect youth and families with resources, she is dedicated to leveraging her experience to build sustainable systems that empower the next generation to thrive.

One More Thing!

If I wasn’t working at VMYDF, I would be traveling the world as a cultural liaison and documentary filmmaker, telling the stories of resilient women while discovering hidden beautiful places.
